Resource & Emotional Support Room Program

Heidi’s Kids Resource and Emotional Support Rooms are designed to provide access to essential resources for students through their school. These Resource Rooms offer a variety of items including food, hygiene products, school supplies, clothes, and shoes. The purpose is to ensure that children have access to these necessities without the need for parental assistance or paperwork. Teachers and counselors are available in the Resource Rooms to assist students in obtaining what they need. Additionally, emotional counseling services are provided within the Resource Rooms by counselors.

With these current partnerships, we are also able to administer a Blessing Sack program. This program provides weekend meals and snacks for 50 low-income students, and their siblings, each week of the school year. Students are selected by school counselors based on need. Heidi’s Kids has partnered with The Jefferson County and Birmingham City School systems to establish two completed Resource Rooms at Irondale Community School and Robinson Elementary. Two more Resource Rooms are planned to be completed in 2024 at Grantswood Elementary and Chalkville Elementary. This expansion will further enhance the support and resources available to children in these schools.
